One of the most popular DS games, Nintendogs, makes extensive use of both the microphone and the touch screen. ![]() The system has the familiar directional pad and input buttons found on all controllers, but the touch-screen input device and new microphone-control capabilities provide remarkable new gameplay experiences only possible on the DS. You'll also be able to interact with games using the system's built-in microphone port. At this time, I want a PSP only for games, and the only three PSP games that hold much interest for me are Lumines, Wipeout Pure, and Burnout Legends, all of which I have either just received in the mail or still have on order. Standing around in public with my eyes glued to the PSP's huge and beautiful screen while watching episodes of Arrested Development (or whatever) probably makes me a prime target for a pickpocket who will make off with my $300 system. And part of the reason this is so is that, frankly, I'm paranoid. This is because I really couldn't care less about the PSP's media player functionality. That's right, I hadn't even bought one, even though I've seen plenty of units and played them at the office. I received my Sony PSP in the mail today. I really didn't have a reason to open it up until then, but I've enjoyed both games greatly, just like I knew I would, and I've got Animal Crossing: Wild World ordered as well, so I know I'll be spending some quality time with my DS this holiday break. Even though I had the hardware, I didn't bother to break it out of its original packaging for almost a year until Nintendogs and Advance Wars: Dual Strike were released in November. It is the biggest Mario to date with layers upon layers of secrets and shortcuts and collectibles. the level design is as close to perfection as I have seen in a game.
